God allows people to suffer eternally as a consequence of their choices and actions. In many religious beliefs, it is believed that individuals have free will to choose between good and evil, and those who choose to reject God and live a life of sin may face eternal suffering as a result. Ultimately, it is believed that God's justice is perfect and that eternal suffering serves as a deterrent for others to choose a righteous path. **
